COMPANY HISTORY

1980

Charlie King founds King Industrial Realty in 1980, choosing to focus on industrial real estate.

He subsequently implements the first industrial real estate database in Atlanta, which later comes to be known as PinPoint™.

From an initial start with two agents, the company has now grown to the largest industrial brokerage company in Atlanta.

1985

King Industrial Realty opens Midtown Atlanta office on Monroe Drive.

1986

Charlie King conceptualizes the idea for CORFAC International. The initial concept comes to Charlie King, in November 1986, while in the coffee shop of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan during an SIOR convention. Thus, CORFAC International, a new commercial real estate services network to foster collaboration and serve their clients domestically and internationally, is born.

1987

Bill Johnston receives Top Ten Industrial Broker Professionalism Award from Dorey’s.

1989

CORFAC International is officially established and brought to the public limelight. Charlie King, as the creator of CORFAC, was offered the first presidency but defers it to the late Al McConkey of King Industrial Realty.

Bill Johnston receives the first of a number of Top Five Awards (1989, 1992, 1994, 1997, & 1999) for industrial production by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

1995

Al McConkey receives the Phoenix Award (Ten Years of Qualifying for the Million Dollar Club) presented by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

1996

Bill Johnston receives the Phoenix Award presented by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

Al McConkey receives the Alvin B Cates Award for the most Outstanding Transaction of 1996 from the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

Charlie King is elected the FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) President.

1998

Bill Johnston receives the Greatest Number of Transactions Award from CORFAC International.

1999

Bill Johnston receives the Largest Deal of the Year (Multy) from Prologis.

2001

Charlie King receives Realtor of the Year Award from the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

2002

Bill Johnston receives the first of a number of Top Ten Awards (2002, 2006, 2007, & 2016) for industrial production by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

King Industrial Realty opens a second office location in Austell to serve the Southwest industrial market.

2003

Sim Doughtie receives the Phoenix Award presented by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

2004

Steve Ratchford receives the Phoenix Award presented by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

2005

Bill Johnston receives the Prologis Broker of the Year Award.

2006

King Industrial Realty opens its third office location in Kennesaw to serve the Northwest industrial market.

2007

Bill Johnston receives the CORFAC Top Value Industrial Deal Award.

2008

Sim Doughtie announced as the new President of King Industrial Realty.

King Industrial opens its fourth office location in Loganville to serve the East industrial market.

2009

Sim Doughtie consummates the largest LEED Certified Gold Build-To-Suit Lease Transaction ever done, at the time, in North America (1,508,765 square feet) with Tenant, General Mills, in Social Circle, Georgia.

2010

Sim Doughtie receives the Top Ten Award for industrial production by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

Sally Tennant receives the Phoenix Award from the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

2011

Sim Doughtie elected the SIOR Georgia Chapter President.

Bill Johnston receives the Silver Phoenix Award from the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors (25 years as a Million Dollar Club Producer.)

2014

Sim Doughtie receives the Alvin B Cates Award for the Outstanding Transaction of 2014 (Sale of Shannon Mall) by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors. Charlie King receives the first-ever Al McConkey, Jr. Award, in memory of CORFAC’s first President, for his leadership and on-going dedication to CORFAC International.

2015

King Industrial Realty announces a new partnership. The new partners consist of six of King Industrial Realty’s top producer’s: President Sim Doughtie, as well as Bill Johnston, Steve Ratchford, Sally Tennant, Wilson Covington and Jason McCart along with Founder, Charlie King.

2016

Jason McCart receives the Largest Retail Size Transaction Award from CORFAC International.

Sim Doughtie is honored with the Olen Monsees Award from CORFAC International for his continuous work toward the success of the CORFAC organization, and Sim receives the Member of the Month Award from the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors for December.

2018

Jason McCart receives the Phoenix Award presented by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors and receives the Largest Industrial Dollar Value Transaction Award from CORFAC International.

Sim Doughtie named the 2018 Million Dollar Club Chairman by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors and was also honored by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a member of Commercial Real Estate Who’s Who in Atlanta.

2019

Sim Doughtie is elected as the new President of CORFAC International and is also named the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors Awards Chairman.

King Industrial Realty opens a fifth office location in McDonough to serve the Southeast industrial market.

2019

Brian Bratton is named Rookie of the Year by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors. The award is given to brokers who have been in commercial real estate for up to three years and have amassed the highest volume of sales transactions.

2020

King Industrial Realty adds an eighth member from its ranks to the SIOR membership roles with Randall Bryan who joins Sim Doughtie, Bill Johnston, Steve Ratchford, Sally Tennant, Wilson Covington, Jason McCart and Charlie King.

King Industrial Realty has more brokers that have earned the prestigious SIOR: Industrial designation than any other brokerage firm in the Atlanta area.

2021

King Industrial Realty adds yet another one of our agents, Brian Bratton, to membership of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. Brian is one of the youngest agents to ever earn the prestigious SIOR designation, and he becomes the ninth agent from King Industrial Realty to receive this coveted honor.

2021

Vice President Bryan Marshburn joins Sim Doughtie, Steve Ratchford and Neal Shiver as the fourth CCIM Designee at King Industrial Realty.

2021

President Sim Doughtie and Vice President Bob Stephens win CORFAC International's COR$TAR Award for Largest Industrial Referral - Dollar Value and Square Feet.

Senior Vice President Jason McCart wins the COR$TAR Award for Largest Retail Referral – Square Feet.

2022

Neal Shiver receives the Phoenix Award presented by the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®.

Sim Doughtie and Bob Stephens were awarded the Alvin B. Cates award. Their submission A Bridge Too Far ... OR ... You Can't Build a Bridge There was a seven-year effort that they undertook for their client while facing and overcoming plenty of challenges along the way. The Alvin B. Cates Award is one of the most prestigious awards of the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®.

King Industrial Realty opens its sixth office location in Buford to serve the Northeast corridor and North.

2023

Brian Bratton receives the 2023 Next Generation Award for Atlanta & the Southeast from Connect CRE.

Bryan Marshburn receives the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors designation. He is the tenth agent from King Industrial Realty to receive this coveted honor. King now has more SIOR members than any other industrial real estate firm in Atlanta.
